317 Students- Design a Storage Unit
The Center for Architecture completed a semester-long School Improvement Project with 4th graders at Millennium Development’s after-school program at PS 317, sponsored by DYCD.
Students and staff determined that their after-school program needed better storage areas to keep after-school supplies in order, so they worked with CFA Educator Carolina Cisneros and Millennium staff Kellianne O’Connor and Ayleia Shields to measure the space, interview staff about needs and develop designs for a new storage cabinet for the program’s use.
Students presented their designs to a panel of stakeholders and the best ideas from each group were compiled into a final design for the cabinet which has been constructed! Student-designed panels decorate the final piece.
The student-designed cabinet was unveiled at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, June 19th at PS 317
